We believe that sculpture is the most public form of art. It is the Sculptor’s job to catch and hold the publics’ curiosity and interest. A good sculpture will transform a material into ... a metaphor ... a poem ... which reveals more insights with each successive visit. It must be built to last in both the environment and the heart of the viewer. “

Sketches
Design Objectives:
To celebrate Silicon Valley's dynamism as an engine of technological innovation, working for and with the deeper, longer-term needs and value of the natural surroundings.
Drawings
Design Objectives:
Re-imagining the existing structures of the Burlington Bay Skyway as a combination of beacon, icon, gateway, attraction and “high point” of that stretch of road.
Paper/Clay/Wood Modelling
Design Objectives:
Create an innovative wooden bridge design that will promote the use of wood in Canada, a sustainable building material.
A fundamental element of the success of these projects was the use of extensive physical and 3D computer modeling to refine and resolve design issues, prior to construction. Modelling helped refine the proportions and size of all the elements, optimize lighting (night time) and provided parameters for construction logistics (assembly).
